News for Immediate Release:

Tidelands Health offering free sports physicals for Georgetown County school athletes in May
Students in Georgetown County School District can get their required physicals to participate in school sports teams during free, on-site clinics provided by Tidelands Health in May.
Physicians, orthopedic specialists, physical therapists and other care providers will conduct the sports physicals at each of the county’s four high schools.
Athletes will be evaluated on their overall health, including blood pressure, movement, height, weight, vision and more.
The free physicals are scheduled:
- Georgetown High School, May 1, at 2:30 p.m.
- Andrews High School, May 8, at 2:30 p.m.
- Carvers Bay High School, May 15, at 2:30 p.m.
- Waccamaw High School, May 22, at 3:30 p.m.
The program is offered to middle and high school students in the Georgetown County School District. Students do not need to schedule an appointment.
The sports physical program began in 2005 as a small effort at a Tidelands Health physician’s office and has expanded over the years to on-site physicals at the county’s four high schools. Organized by the Tidelands Health Sports Medicine Institute, the free sports physicals at the schools aim to encourage physical activity among students and break down a potential barrier to sports participation.
“We are proud to carry on our longstanding tradition of offering free sports physicals to students during our designated clinics at Georgetown County schools,” said Dr. William Greer, an orthopedic and sports medicine specialist at Tidelands Health. “These clinics help provide opportunities to all student athletes by streamlining the process to receive their required physicals.”
