Registration now open for 20th annual In the Pink breast cancer awareness walk

Registration opens today for the popular Tidelands Health In the Pink breast cancer awareness walk, which is set for Saturday, Oct. 11, at Brookgreen Gardens.

Celebrating its 20th year, the walk brings the community together to celebrate breast cancer survivors, remember those lost to the disease and raise money to support breast care.

This year’s event will be limited to 2,500 walkers. Those interested in participating are encouraged to register now at tidelandshealth.org.

“In the Pink has really become a signature event and the premier breast cancer awareness walk for our region,” said Dr. Craig Brackett, a board-certified breast surgeon and medical director of the Tidelands Health breast health program. “It’s tremendously rewarding to have watched an event we started 20 years ago with 200 participants blossom into this powerful and compelling gathering of more than 2,000 community members. It provides so much hope and encouragement and is such a special day to celebrate this community.

“We encourage all those who want to be part of this special event to register now so they don’t miss out.”

Register at tidelandshealth.org. Participants receive a commemorative T-shirt and complimentary admission to Brookgreen Gardens for the day.

“Most importantly, In the Pink participants will be letting those in our region who have been impacted by breast cancer know we walk together in pink, celebrating 20 years of hope with every step,” Dr. Brackett said.

In addition to a casual walk through beautiful Brookgreen Gardens, In the Pink features interactive displays, a DJ, commemorative photo stations, a breast cancer survivors’ lounge and stories of inspiration.

Gates open at 7:15 a.m., and the event will begin at 8:30 a.m.

Participants can register as individuals or as a team.

    Register now at tidelandshealth.org.
