“DO OVERS:” Georgetown Tidal Tales May 31 Show Benefits “A Father’s Place”

Seven Georgetown citizens will have the opportunity to tell a true, 5-minute story on the topic, “DO OVERS” at the Georgetown Tidal Tales show on Saturday evening, May 31, 2025 at Winyah Auditorium. Storytellers can submit their true story (about reinventing themselves, making a course change, starting over, or whatever “do over” means to them) by submitting online or downloading the paper form at http://www.georgetowntidaltales.com/.

The show runs 7:30-9:30 PM and features the Zack Patton Trio. Tickets are $10 and are available on the website and at the door. All proceeds after covering production costs will be donated to A Father’s Place in Georgetown County. “A Father’s Place is thrilled to be a part of Tidal Tales,” says Wallace Evans Jr., CEO of A Father’s Place. “Our involvement with the youth, families, community, and businesses locally has been instrumental in shaping our Fatherhood program,” Wallace stated. A Father’s Place enables men to develop the knowledge, confidence and skills to become successful fathers and co-parents—a goal supported by research indicating that when fathers are involved in their children’s lives, children are two times more likely to attend college, 80% less likely to spend time in jail, and 75% less likely to experience teen pregnancy.

Janet Fricke, Georgetown Tidal Tales Executive Director, started the non-profit in 2024 to build community. “You have to experience a show to understand it,” she says. “When you hear real people telling true stories that are humorous, touching, unexpected and enlightening, you enjoy more than a fascinating night of live theater. You end up feeling that we are all part of one human family,” she says. Four shows are scheduled in 2025 and each will benefit a local Georgetown nonprofit. “Georgetown is a wonderful place to live,” Fricke says, “and Tidal Tales wants to empower this community on every level.”
