Nonprofit Seeks Storytellers for First Performance
First Show 1/25/25 Benefits Habitat for Humanity Georgetown County
 
Georgetown, South Carolina, October 22-December 31, 2024:  Eight Georgetown citizens will have the opportunity to tell a true, 5-minute story on the topic, “For the First Time,” at the debut Georgetown Tidal Tales show on Saturday evening, January 25, 2025 at Winyah Auditorium. Storytellers can submit their true story (about mustering the courage, feeling the feelings, being brave or foolish or a little of both) at www.georgetowntidaltales.com or use the paper form available at all Georgetown Libraries.
 
The show begins at 7:30 PM and will feature a local band. Tickets are $10 and are available on the website and at the door through TicketLeap. All proceeds after covering production costs of the first show will be donated to Habitat for Humanity Georgetown County. “We are excited to partner with Tidal Tales for their first show,” says Liz Duesing, Development Director, Habitat for Humanity Georgetown County. “There is nothing like it in Georgetown.” Habitat Georgetown provides safe, affordable housing for low-income neighbors in Georgetown County. They’re the only nonprofit in our community to offer homeownership opportunities and assist with critical home repairs.
 
Janet Fricke, Georgetown Tidal Tales Executive Director, started the nonprofit in 2024 to build community. “When you hear real people telling true stories that are humorous, touching, unexpected and enlightening, you enjoy more than a fascinating night of live theater. You emerge from the show with the feeling that we are part of one human family,” she says. Four shows are scheduled in 2025 and each will, after covering production costs, benefit a local Georgetown nonprofit. “Georgetown is a wonderful place to live,” Fricke says, “and Tidal Tales wants to empower this community on every level.”
