    News for Immediate Release:

Hadwin-White Subaru donates blankets to patients with cancer at Tidelands Health
Patients receiving care and treatment for cancer at Tidelands Health will find extra comfort thanks to a generous donation from Hadwin-White Subaru.
In what has become an annual tradition, the Horry County business recently donated more than 80 plush, individually wrapped blankets to patients receiving infusion treatments at Tidelands Health Cancer Care Network locations in Myrtle Beach, Murrells Inlet and Georgetown.
Hadwin-White Subaru partners with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to make the donation through the Subaru Loves to Care initiative, a nationwide program to provide support to patients with cancer.
“Giving back to our community is part of our culture at Hadwin-White Subaru,” said Jordan Hadwin, general manager of Hadwin-White Subaru. “It’s our honor to offer our support to patients at Tidelands Health through this donation. We hope they find some comfort in these blankets and feel encouraged by the special messages of hope from our team members.”
The blankets, which are zipped into the shape of a heart to make them easy for patients to bring to appointments, not only provide needed warmth to patients who often get cold during chemotherapy treatments but also bring a sense of comfort that others in the community support them. In previous years, many of the patients who received donated blankets from Hadwin-White Subaru brought them to use during all of their scheduled treatments.
In addition to the blankets, team members at Hadwin-White Subaru sent heartfelt messages of encouragement handwritten on heart-shaped notecards.
“Our team members and even some of our customers are always eager to share a few words through this initiative to help support and encourage patients in our community facing a cancer journey,” said Jason Bogart, internet manager at Hadwin-White. “It’s incredibly rewarding to hear how patients appreciate the blankets and find comfort in the messages of hope. We are proud to offer this support to them and remind them how much we care.”
Some of the messages this year: “You are stronger, braver and more courageous than you can imagine,” “You will beat it!” and “You are important, you are loved. So many people care about you and are all cheering you on.”
“We’re not sure what means the most to our patients – the soft blanket to keep them warm or the heartfelt well-wishes that help lift their spirits,” said Kate Alford, a nurse manager with the Tidelands Health Cancer Care Network. “The warm blankets and the encouraging words provide needed support and comfort that mean the world to our patients. We are incredibly grateful to Hadwin-White Subaru and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for showing how much they care about our patients and the community through this generous donation.”
Tidelands Health Cancer Care Network provides cancer screenings, diagnosis and a broad range of treatment services, including chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery. Tidelands Health is a member of the MUSC Hollings Cancer Network, South Carolina’s only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center, and is accredited by the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer.
