Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service and guiding them through check-in procedures
- Verify patient insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and assist with billing processes using systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or Dentrix
- Schedule appointments accurately utilizing medical scheduling software and coordinate with clinical staff to optimize daily clinic flow
- Manage multi-line phone systems, answer inquiries professionally, and direct calls appropriately
- Maintain accurate medical records by updating patient information in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as eClinicalWorks or Eaglesoft
- Review documentation for completeness and accuracy, including CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and care plan documentation
- Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and managing office supplies
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and handling sensitive data responsibly
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical administrative role within clinics or healthcare facilities
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Eaglesoft, Dentrix or similar platforms
- Familiarity with medical billing, coding (CPT, ICD-10/ICD-9), insurance verification, and documentation review processes
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and health information management software
- Exceptional phone etiquette with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems efficiently
- Knowledge of medical terminology, dental terminology (if applicable), HIPAA compliance standards, and hospital or clinic procedures
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Prior clinic or dental office experience is preferred; familiarity with dental terminology like Dentrix or Eaglesoft is a plus
- Ability to maintain professionalism and provide outstanding patient service at all times
