Sweetgrass Bread Basket Making Class

Master basket maker Vera Manigault is teaching a 4-part class in how to make a bread basket. The classes are 7/8, 7/15, 7/22, 7/29 from 11 am - 1 pm at the Gullah Museum, 123 King Street, Suite 6, Georgetown, SC 29440. Vera's family has practiced this functional art form for eight generations. Made by Gullah Geechee people for centuries, these baskets are vessels of memory identical to the coil baskets of West Africa. The total cost of the 4-part class is $240.
