Sweetgrass Basket Making Class

Learn how to make traditional sweetgrass baskets with master basket maker Vera Manigault on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, 11 am to 1 pm ET at the Gullah Museum in Georgetown, SC. Vera's family has practiced this functional art form for eight generations. Made by Gullah Geechee people for centuries, these baskets are vessels of memory identical to the coil baskets of West Africa. The class fee is $60—all materials needed to make a basket with a handle are included.
