Blood Drive - Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital

Community members have several chances to donate blood in June at blood drives sponsored by Tidelands Health. The health system is partnering with the American Red Cross and The Blood Connection to sponsor the blood drives in Murrells Inlet, Georgetown and Pawleys Island.

• Friday, June 3, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital, 606 Black River Road in Georgetown. Go to redcrossblood.org to schedule an appointment.

• Monday, June 13, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Blood Connection will have its bloodmobiles set up outside Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital, 4070 Highway 17 in Murrells Inlet, and Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital, 606 Black River Road in Georgetown. • Monday, June 27, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Tidelands HealthPoint Center for Health and Fitness, 12965 Ocean Highway in Pawleys Island. Go to thebloodconnection.org to schedule an appointment at this blood drive.

Donors are encouraged to schedule appointments online. Walk-ins are welcome, but scheduled appointments will take priority.

Blood drives help ensure adequate blood supplies for Tidelands Health patients. Blood supplies are routinely used to treat accident victims, cancer patients, those who need blood transfusions and more.

Blood donors must be 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. Bring a photo ID or blood donor ID. Individuals who are not feeling well or who are on an antibiotic for an active infection should donate at another time.
