News for Immediate Release:
Three Tidelands Health team members honored for their ’Caring Hearts’
Three dedicated Tidelands Health team members have been recognized with “Caring Hearts” awards for their commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.
James Daniels, an emergency room technician at Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital; Melissa Dottery, a patient services representative at Waccamaw Medical Park South; and Nora Moreno, a certified nursing assistant at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital, were honored for exemplifying the values of kindness, positivity and service excellence.
A Tidelands Health team member for nearly 43 years, Daniels is described by co-workers as one of the most caring individuals at Tidelands Georgetown.
“Every day he works, no matter who you are, James is here to greet everyone with a fist bump or hug,” co-workers wrote in the nomination. “James builds up those around him, and whenever someone is feeling down or stressed with a particular situation, James is the first one to tell you what a great job you’re doing. He always has your back and is the heartbeat of Tidelands Georgetown.”
Dottery, who supports patients at Tidelands Health Wound Care and Infusion Center at Murrells Inlet, is known for her warmth and attentiveness. Her teammates say she brings light to every interaction.
“Melissa takes the time to listen to each patient while checking them in, getting to know them, their concerns and easing any uncertainty,” her nomination states. “In a world that often feels rushed and indifferent, Melissa serves as a beacon of hope and love. Not a day passes that one of our patients doesn’t mention her and her kindness during their infusions.”
Patients agree Moreno is an example of what a health care worker should be, providing gentle and thorough care to all her patients. She is always kind and shows up for all patients with a smile and gentle tone.
“Her gentle and kind approach helps make even the most difficult situations a little more bearable,” her nomination said. “Her understanding of a patient’s condition is amazing, and through that understanding she can provide special and individualized care almost through instinct. Nora is the example all care providers should follow.”
The Caring Hearts awards are presented annually to Tidelands Health team members who demonstrate exceptional kindness, a positive attitude and a deep commitment to supporting patients, visitors and team members. Honorees are known as team players who take initiative and execute their roles with a positive attitude, patience and a heart of gold.
“It’s clear that our three ‘Caring Hearts’ not only love what they do but also deeply care for our patients and community,” said Ashley Capps, vice president of operations and chief nursing officer. “It’s easy to bring a smile on the good days, but what truly sets team members apart is their ability to show up with the same compassion and optimism even on the toughest days. We are incredibly grateful to have such dedicated and compassionate ‘Caring Hearts’ at Tidelands Health.”
