Learn about the fascinating lives of Hobcaw Barony residents who fought for racial equality and women’s suffrage. Such a fitting way to observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day! This program will begin after a car caravan to Friendfield Village and will include exploring the church and former slave cabins.
Vehicles will need to be able to navigate rough and sandy roads. Participants will need to dress for the weather and insects, as well as wear comfortable shoes. Participants should bring: lawn chair, hat, sunscreen, bug spray and water. Restroom facilities will not be available during the program. Recommended for ages 10 and up. (Exertion level: Medium impact- sitting, walking on uneven terrain)
Reservations required and in response to Georgetown County Emergency Ordinance 20-33 and the COVID-19 situation, the Hobcaw Barony Discovery Center requires visitors to wear face coverings when entering the Discovery Center as well as other buildings on the tours, click here to register.
