News for Immediate Release:
Life-saving blood donations often decline during the busy holiday season. Tidelands Health is partnering with the American Red Cross to boost blood donations following the holidays with three blood drives scheduled in early 2023.
The blood drives are offered at three convenient locations:- Friday, Jan. 13, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Waccamaw Medical Park South, 4367 Riverwood Drive, Murrells Inlet
- Monday, Jan. 23, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tidelands Health Pawleys Family YMCA, 12965 Ocean Highway, Pawleys Island
- Friday, Feb. 3, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital, 606 Black River Road, Georgetown
Blood supplies are vital year round for patients with cancer, chronic diseases, cardiac conditions, those who have experienced a trauma and more. A single blood donation has a shelf life of only 42 days, according to the American Red Cross, so donations from community members are continuously needed to keep supplies replenished.
Donors can schedule an appointment at redcrossblood.org. Appointments will take priority, but walk-ins are welcome.
Blood donors must be healthy, at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. Be sure to bring a valid ID. People who are feeling ill should postpone donating blood until they feel healthy and are symptom-free.
