News for Immediate Release:
Give the gift of life this Halloween with a donation at a blood drive in Pawleys Island.
Tidelands Health is partnering with The Blood Connection for the blood drive Oct. 31 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Tidelands Health Pawleys Family YMCA, 12965 Ocean Highway. Look for the bloodmobile in the parking lot.
Blood donations help ensure adequate blood supplies for Tidelands Health patients. Blood supplies are routinely used to treat accident victims, cancer patients, those who need blood transfusions and more.
“Your blood donation could end up helping a neighbor, co-worker or another community member in need,” said Ashley Capps, vice president of nursing and operations at Tidelands Health. “A blood donation really is the gift of life.”
Donors are encouraged to schedule appointments online at donate.thebloodconnection.org. Walk-ins are welcome, but scheduled appointments will take priority.
Blood donors must be 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. Bring a photo ID or blood donor ID. Individuals who are not feeling well or who are on an antibiotic for an active infection should donate at another time.
