Community members encouraged to donate during upcoming Tidelands Health blood drives amid national blood shortageJuly 07, 2021Community members encouraged to donate during upcoming Tidelands Health blood drives amid national blood shortage
Tidelands Health is partnering with the American Red Cross to sponsor two blood drives this month amid a nationwide shortage in blood supplies.
The American Red Cross has been facing a blood shortage nationally because of a rise in the number of trauma cases, organ transplants and elective surgeries requiring blood products over the past few months.
Tidelands Health has not experienced a critical shortage of blood supply as a result of the national decline but encourages individuals to donate blood at the upcoming blood drives:
- Friday, July 9, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Waccamaw Medical Park South, 4367 Riverwood Drive, Murrells Inlet
- Monday, July 26, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tidelands HealthPoint Center for Health and Fitness, 12965 Ocean Highway, Pawleys Island
Donors can make an appointment to donate during the upcoming blood drives at redcrossblood.org. Appointments will take priority, but walk-ins are welcome.
Blood donors must be healthy, at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. Be sure to bring a valid ID.
