Email becky@championautismnetwork.com5th Annual Best of the Beach Balls Presented By Affordable Awning Systems Surfside Beach, SC, October 26, 2023: The Best of the Beach Balls Meatball Challenge will be held on Saturday, October 28th from 11am-2pm.
Area restaurants compete for People and Celebrity Judges Choice. Angelo’s Steak & Pasta, Casa Calamari and the International Culinary Institute are coming back to defend their titles against Old Chicago Pizza & Taproom, and newcomers, Jiggy’s Bistro, Mulberry St. Pizza, the Grumpy Mustache (with their beloved parrot Vision) , Pampered Chef Pat Horton, Pizza Hyena and Up & Over Roofing.
To make it even more fun, The Grumpy Mustache and Mulberry St. Pizza has a friendly rivalry and whoever loses gets a pie in the face (details to come on that!).
Celebrity Judges Adam Dellinger of Gator 107.9, Media personality Audra Grant, award winning chef Danny Smith and WPDE Meteorologist Ed Piotrowski will judge the meatballs at the start of the event while the public samples the meatballs and cast their vote throughout the event. The winner will be announced at 1:45.
At 12:30 the 3rd Annual Meatball Eating Competition sponsored by Dagwoods in Surfside will ensue with 2-time winner, TJ Barnaba of Affordable Awning Systems who will defend his title and is extremely confident he will achieve a 3-peat and hang up his belt.
And no CAN event would be complete without our wonderful vendors and a Family Fun Area, this year sponsored by Angelo’s Steak & Pasta. Kids can enjoy a bouncy house, face painting, pumpkin decorating and a Surfside Beach fire truck.
Becky Large, CAN Executive Director states, “we are so excited for this event. It is always fun and it just keeps getting better. The weather is to be stellar and the competition really fun. We do hope you come out and play and support our people living with autism.”
