As an Equipment Operator I, you will operate specialized equipment and perform specific tasks relative to the maintenance of the golf course and club grounds.
DETAILED JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintain logs for operations, maintenance, and gas usage of each machine.
- Perform daily tasks necessary to keep the maintenance facility clean, organized, and safe.
- Clean machinery after each use.
- Inspect all machines and report any deficiencies to the Equipment Technician.
- Ensure you are thoroughly trained for the procedure at each task prior to performing task.
- Follow the guidelines in the Golf Course Maintenance Manual for each specific task.
- Be able to perform specific tasks relative to the Equipment Operator I training including, but not limited to:
- Line trim trees, shrubs, posts, etc.
- Edge cart paths, sprinkler heads, bunkers, etc.
- Repair ball marks.
- Fill divots.
- Operate utility vehicles.
- Operate a blower.
- Hand rake bunkers.
- Perform miscellaneous hand tool operations.
- Perform other functions and routine golf course maintenance activities as directed by the Golf Course Superintendent, Assistant Golf Course Superintendent I, or Assistant Golf Course Superintendent II.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous golf course maintenance or landscaping experience preferred.
- Ability to successfully complete the Equipment Operator I training program within the first 30 days of employment as a condition of employment.
- Ability to and willingness to wear required personal protective clothing and/or use protective equipment to comply with established safety operating standards.
- Ability to understand and follow directions.
- Ability to operate golf course equipment.
- Ability to visually inspect golf course conditions, clubhouse, and adjacent grounds.
- Capacity to be on your feet for long hours.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, rotate, climb, stand, push, lift, grasp, and reach for up to five hours without sitting.
- Ability to perform heavy physical work, which may require exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly.
- Ability to work in various extreme weather conditions.
- Willingness to work with or around heavy equipment, sharp utensils, harmful chemicals/solvents, pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers, and/or flying golf balls.
- Ability to work every other Saturday and Sunday for 4 hours each morning.
