Plantersville offers the only Scenic Byway in Georgetown County. Along the Byway and throughout the ride there are ten plantations from the Colonial era that are part of the region’s rich rice farming history. These sites contain a number of pre-Civil War landmarks – mansions, slave houses, churches, rice Chimneys and other ruins. There are designated stops along the ride to encourage bike-riders to explore these grounds. In addition, the area is rich in natural beauty. The Dirleton Plantation-Samworth Wildlife Management Area is located along this stretch of byway and offers a chance to see some of the region’s wildlife in its natural habitat.

Join us on your choice of distance to explore scenic parts of Georgetown County 12, 25 or 62 mile rides. This is a bicyling at "your speed" experience - not a race. Everyone is welcome - history buffs, families, senior citizens, recreational bicycle riders, “weekend warriors” and those just wanting to check out the nature trails – there is something for everyone. The Tour de Plantersville provides participants with a “discovery ride” to explore the historically-significant land surrounding the Plantersville Scenic Byway – the only scenic by-way in Georgetown County SC. The discovery ride is not meant to be comprehensive, but more of a taste of Georgetown County/Plantersville. The Tour de Plantersville will start/finish at the Cultural Festival grounds behind the Plantersville elementary school at the Mary M. Bonds Georgetown County Park.
The Cultural Festival offers an opportunity for friends and families to relax, enjoy the beauty of the area while being in a peaceful location. While relaxing in lawn chairs, listening to upbeat music, sampling culinary treats offered by the Plantersville Hunting Club or Creole styled food trucks and strolling by unique vendors offering local products visitors re-charge their “batteries” and create happy memories. In addition there is a chidlren's activties area.
The Festival area is open to all from 9 – 2 pm and there is no admission fee. Bring your lawn chair and take in the peacefulness of the area.
