Come to Kimbel Lodge at Hobcaw Barony for a barbeque dinner followed by a presentation by Dr. David R. White. He will recount his recent eighteen-month journey in search of details regarding President Franklin Roosevelt’s 1944 four-week stay at Hobcaw Barony. Information was discovered by visiting eleven libraries and archives stretching from Georgia to New York. Dr. White will share publicly, for the very first time, documents he discovered that reveal new and interesting facts about FDR’s secret visit to South Carolina that ended only one month before D-Day.
Reservations required.
Dr. David R. White is the Neal D. Thigpen Professor of Public Affairs at Francis Marion University and a 2023-2025 Harry M. Lightsey, Jr., Visiting Scholar Fellow at Hobcaw Barony.
