Georgetown County is developing a Port Redevelopment Master Plan, and local businesses and residents have an opportunity to help shape the future of this publicly owned property.
The county has selected Seamon Whiteside and Associates, a Mount Pleasant consulting firm, to lead the effort. Work is underway, including engineering studies of existing infrastructure. The planning process will evaluate potential uses, infrastructure needs and environmental conditions to help county leaders make informed decisions about the property’s future.
This stage establishes a framework for future decisions; specific development proposals would come later.

The county will hold an interactive public meeting:
Thursday, October 22, 2026, at 6 p.m.
Howard Center, 1610 Hawkins Street, Georgetown
The meeting will include a planning update followed by breakout discussions where participants can explore topics of interest and share ideas.
The Chamber encourages members to participate. Business perspectives can help planners understand local needs, identify economic opportunities and consider how future uses could benefit the broader community while respecting Georgetown’s history.
Can’t attend? Visit Georgetown County’s Port Master Plan website to follow the project and submit comments directly to the consulting team.
This is an opportunity to contribute early in a process that could influence Georgetown County for generations to come.
