After a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19, Indigo Choral Society’s Spring Concert returns for 2022!
This year’s program will be devoted to sacred music, including beloved hymns like John Rutter’s arrangement of “All Things Bright and Beautiful.” “It Is Well With My Soul,” whose lyrics were penned by Horatio Spafford after experiencing horrific personal tragedy, will also be featured.
Brazeal Dennard’s “Great Day” and Richard Smallwood’s “Total Praise” will represent gospel tunes. The hauntingly beautiful Hebrew song, “Oseh Shalom,” will be sung along with deep, soul-searching numbers such as “Lord from Sorrows Deep I Call” and “My Shepherd Will Supply My Need.”
The uplifting, fast-paced anthems “Jubilate Deo” and “Then Will the Very Rocks Cry Out ” will follow, as will such southern gospel favorites as “This World Is Not My Home. “You’ll Never Walk Alone” from the Broadway musical “Carousel” also will be performed.
Jan Powers Fort is Indigo Choral Society’s Artistic Director. She is a native Georgetonian and long-time Kindermusik teacher, choir director, and Swamp Fox Player thespian. Veteran music teacher Melodye Sparks is the ensemble’s accompanist.
