One of the most popular Philadelphia soul groups of the 1970s. Founded in Philadelphia\, Pennsylvania\, the group is most noted for several hits on Gamble and Huff's Philadelphia International label between 1972 and 1976\, although they performed and recorded until Melvin's death in 1997.\n\nFollowing the passing of Harold Melvin\, Donnell Gillespie was approached by his widow and invited to be one of "Harold Melvin's Blue Notes" which were formed to keep Melvin's music and memory alive.\n\nHarold Melvin's Blue Notes have been performing to standing room only audiences for decades. Harold Melvin's Blue Notes are one of the most dynamic groups that came out of the Gamble-Huff music factory that produced groups like the Spinners and Stylistics. Among their credits were the many love songs "If You Don't Know Me by Now" (nominated for a Grammy)\, "The Love I Lost\," "Bad Luck\," and "Wake Up Everybody".
