SUMMARY:Georgetown County Redistricting Community Public Input Meeting
DESCRIPTION:General Overview\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvery 10 years\, federal\, state and local district lines are redrawn\n\nbased on the most recent census data. These lines determine\n\nwho can run to represent us in elections at all levels. District lines\n\nshould be drawn to ensure fair and equal representation\n\nfor all residents.\n\nIt is the responsibility of Georgetown County Council to update\n\nthe seven county council districts. These lines determine\n\nrepresentation for county residents on the County Council\, as\n\nwell as the Georgetown County School Board. Georgetown\n\nCounty received census data in late September of 2021 that\n\nallowed it to begin the process of redistricting. The county \n\ncontracted with the state office of Revenue and Fiscal Affairs\n\n(RFA) to guide it through the redistricting process and\n\ncreate draft maps of the new Council districts for Council \n\nconsideration. Information the RFA used to redraw district lines\n\nis available in the report below.\n\nImportant Documents\n\n\n	RFA Redistricting Report\n	RFA Redistricting Process\n\n\nLatest Update\n\nFollowing a workshop on Jan. 11\, Georgetown County Council selected\n\na draft redistricting map to move forward with as it works to adopt a\n\nredistricting plan. This map\, known as Plan 1-843A\, is still subject to\n\nchange prior to adoption based on public comments. The public will\n\nhave three opportunities in January to review and comment on draft\n\nredistricting maps\, as well as pose questions prior to adoption of a\n\nredistricting plan. \n\n\n\nFor more details and to view the maps visit\n\nRedistricting | Georgetown County\, SC (gtcounty.org).
