SUMMARY:Blood Drive - Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital
DESCRIPTION:Tidelands Health is providing several opportunities for community members to conveniently donate blood in March. \n\nThe health system is partnering with its blood suppliers\, American Red Cross and The Blood Connection\, to offer several blood drives this month in Murrells Inlet\, Pawleys Island and Georgetown: \n\n	Friday\, March 14\, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.\, Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital. Donors at this American Red Cross blood drive also will receive free A1C testing\, which is commonly used to screen for diabetes and pre-diabetes. Schedule an appointment at redcrossblood.org. \n\n\n\n	Monday\, March 17\, 3-6:30 p.m.\, Tidelands Health Pawleys Family YMCA. Schedule an appointment at thebloodconnection.org. \n\n\n\n	Monday\, March 24\, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.\, Tidelands Health Pawleys Family YMCA. Donors at this American Red Cross blood drive also will receive free A1C testing\, which is commonly used to screen for diabetes and pre-diabetes. Schedule an appointment at redcrossblood.org. \n\n\n\n	Monday\, March 24\, 8:30-11:30 a.m.\, Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Schedule an appointment at thebloodconnection.org. \n\n\n\n	Monday\, March 24\, 2-5 p.m.\, Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital. Schedule an appointment at thebloodconnection.org. \n\nPeople with type O blood are encouraged to donate during an upcoming blood drive. Nationwide\, many blood donations have not been collected recently because of severe winter weather in parts of the U.S.\, which has led to a nationwide shortage of type O blood and platelets\, according to the American Red Cross. \n\n\n\nBlood supplies are essential for patients undergoing certain surgical procedures or cancer treatments\, as well as those battling chronic illnesses or traumatic injuries. A single blood donation has a shelf life of only 42 days\, so donations from community members are continuously needed to keep supplies replenished.
