News for Immediate Release:
Patients at Tidelands Health hospitals received a surprise pick-me-up thanks to a thoughtful gesture by residents of a local assisted living center.
Residents at Inlet Coastal Resort in Murrells Inlet made 100 get well cards for patients to help them feel loved and supported while they are in the hospital. The residents thought now is an especially important time to show support because the patients aren’t able to have visitors to help limit the spread of COVID-19.
Hospitals are not only the front lines treating coronavirus patients, but they also continue to treat myriad other conditions that require a hospital stay.
“Our residents are so blessed to be happy and healthy. They wanted to do something to give back,” said Laura Cason, marketing director at Inlet Coastal Resort.
The residents wrote heartfelt messages in each card and then scribbled “to someone special” on the envelope. The effort to give back ended up giving them just as much.
The cards found their way to the special addressees: patients at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital and Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
“These special get well cards from residents at Inlet Coastal Resort brightened the day of our patients,” said Pam Maxwell, chief nursing officer at Tidelands Health. “What a kind gesture that has meant so much to patients who need a little extra love and support right now. Never underestimate the power of positive words.”
