News for Immediate Release:
Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital has again earned prestigious recognition as a top hospital for nurses.
The American Nurses Credentialing Center, a division of the American Nurses Association, redesignated Tidelands Waccamaw as a Pathway to Excellence hospital after a thorough review process. The designation is awarded for three years. Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital was redesignated in 2018.
The coveted Pathway to Excellence designation signals that a hospital has created an environment where nurses feel valued and supported by the health care facility and are motivated to go above and beyond in caring for their patients.
“To repeatedly be recognized as a ‘Pathway to Excellence’ hospital is a clear signal that these high standards and values are ingrained in our culture at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital,” said Annie Miller, the hospital’s clinical director of nursing. “It’s simply the way we strive for excellence every day, and our patients benefit from receiving compassionate care in this type of environment.”
Tidelands Waccamaw first received the Pathway to Excellence designation in 2014 and was redesignated in 2017 and again this year.
Tidelands Waccamaw is among 196 hospitals in the United States and only seven in South Carolina – including Tidelands Georgetown – to hold the Pathway to Excellence designation.
To receive redesignation, Tidelands Waccamaw showed that it is committed to creating an environment where nurses excel and feel valued. Nurses verified the presence of a positive workplace by participating in a confidential survey.
The hospital demonstrated through the rigorous review process that it also excels in practice standards including leadership accountability, safety of work environment and professional development opportunities, among others.
