News for Immediate Release:
Tidelands Health has received a $500,000 grant from The Duke Endowment as part of a longstanding partnership between the two organizations to improve health and wellness in the region.
The funding will be used to support the Tidelands Community Care Network, a public-private partnership that helps break down barriers to provide access to medical care for uninsured and underinsured adults. The program was established in 2011 with the support of a $500,000 grant from The Duke Endowment and has now received more than $2.5 million from the organization.
“The ongoing generous support of The Duke Endowment makes the important work of the Tidelands Community Care Network possible,” said Bruce Bailey, president and CEO of Tidelands Health. “This substantial grant will directly help our community members get the access they need to a range of health care services.”
Since its inception, the Tidelands Community Care Network has served more than 4,000 people by connecting them with access to primary care, specialty care, affordable medication, behavioral health care, dental care, transportation and more. It continues to grow and evolve to help meet community needs.
One of the network’s greatest community benefits is its role as a facilitator helping to foster partnerships and increase cross-sector collaboration. The result is stronger links within the community that lead to integrated care and better health outcomes. Tidelands Community Care Network has more than two dozen partners representing a range of government, non-profit and faith-based organizations.
“Our growing network of partners continues to make great strides in removing barriers to health care so that adults who are uninsured or underinsured in our community have access to the care they need,” said Kelly Kaminski, director of community health resources at Tidelands Health. “Our network has made wonderful progress, but there’s still much more work to do.”
The Duke Endowment’s support for Tidelands Community Care Network is part of a longstanding partnership with Tidelands Health that extends back to 1997. Over the years, the Endowment has granted more than $4 million to the health system.
