News for Immediate Release:
The company known for its trucks and Mustangs has come through with the largest single donation of face shields that Tidelands Health has received for its COVID-19 response.
Michigan-based Ford Motor Co. has shifted gears from production of its vehicles to making face shields, face masks and other crucial protective gear for health care workers responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The company donated 10,000 of those face shields to Tidelands Health on Monday. It’s the largest donation of face shields the health system has received for its COVID-19 response.
“This tremendous donation of face shields will go a long way in helping make sure our team of health care professionals are protected as they serve our community through this COVID-19 pandemic,” said Gary Metcalfe, vice president of supply chain and support services at Tidelands Health. “We thank Ford Motor Co. for shifting gears to produce this needed equipment to help keep our team and other health care professionals across the country safe.”
Ford shifted its production from vehicles to medical gear and partnered with other companies to help offset global supply shortages in a range of protective equipment for health care workers and first responders. By April 30, Ford had produced 10 million face shields to help protect essential workers across the country. It also is helping produce gowns, ventilators and more.
Cutline: Sandi Wilson, a manager in the materials management department at Tidelands Health, holds one of the face shields produced by Ford Motor Co. and donated to the health system.
