News for Immediate Release:
Dagwood’s Deli & Sports Bar in Surfside Beach has donated $1,700 to the Tidelands Health Foundation Breast Care Fund to help individuals in need receive potentially life-saving mammograms.
The locally owned restaurant raised the money through a special fundraiser during October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Patrons donated by purchasing a pink face mask or contributing $1 or more to sign a pink ribbon that was displayed in the Surfside Beach restaurant. Dagwood’s also raises money for the Breast Care Fund by selling short- and long-sleeve breast cancer awareness shirts year-round.
“Thanks to the generosity of our loyal customers, Dagwood’s Deli & Sports Bar was able to exceed our fundraising goal to help even more of our fellow community members get needed mammograms or other breast care services,” said Maribeth Lamuraglia, assistant general manager of Dagwood’s Deli & Sports Bar. “Our patrons went above and beyond, helping us raise $200 more than our original goal, even amid today’s tough times. We are so pleased that this money will stay right here in our community to help those who need it.”
The Tidelands Health Foundation Breast Care Fund helps provide mammograms and other vital breast health services to uninsured or underinsured individuals in Horry, Georgetown and Williamsburg counties. Every October, the foundation raises money for the fund through its “In the Pink” Breast Cancer Awareness Walk, which was held virtually this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This is the third year Dagwood’s has partnered with the foundation to raise money for the Breast Care Fund.
“Dagwood’s once again showed its dedication to our community and commitment to helping others through this tremendous donation to the Breast Care Fund,” said Jessica Sasser, executive director of the Tidelands Health Foundation. “We are grateful for the support of such an outstanding local business and its generous patrons.”
The Tidelands Health Foundation works in partnership with Tidelands Health, our region’s largest health care provider, to offer new technologies, modern facilities and increased access to health care services in our community.
Cutline: Tiffany Doolittle and Maribeth Lamuraglia, both with Dagwood’s Deli & Sports Bar in Surfside Beach, present a $1,700 donation to Elisa Mullan, Jessica Sasser and Caitlyn Krask, all with the Tidelands Health Foundation. The donation to the foundation’s Breast Care Fund will help provide mammograms and other vital breast health services to uninsured or underinsured residents.
