THRIVE AT PRINCE CREEK PRESENTS:
PEACE OF MIND
Legal and Health Care Resources for Seniors and Their Families
May 11, 2017 from 5 to 6:30 pm
We all share the same goal: the best possible care for our families and loved ones as they age. But as we age, legal and health care issues become far more complicated, and the tasks of legal planning and care giving can quickly become overwhelming to many families.
In recent years both the legal and health care professions have recognized these issues and have developed specialty practices, managed by professionals with expertise in the fields of Geriatric Care Management, Estate Planning and Dementia Care training, designed to help families identify, plan and implement the best care for their situations. But how do you find these professionals, and how do you evaluate their services?
THRIVE at Prince Creek is pleased to sponsor this program featuring a panel of experts to help you understand these challenges and identify and select someone to help when the time comes.
Our Program Panel Experts
Anita G. Baker, RN, BSN, CMC, President of AGB and Associates, LLC of Pawleys Island is an Aging Life Care Professional™, certified by the National Academy of Certified Care Managers. Mrs. Baker will discuss the benefits of professional care management and explain how families can use care managers to help research, implement and manage ongoing health care services and providers, gaining peace of mind and maximizing available resources.
Kathryn Pears, MPPM, Principal with Dementia Care Strategies of Conway is a dementia expert who consults with families, long-term care professionals and facilities, and community agencies. She will present the latest information on management of challenging behaviors that occur with dementia.
Patrick Wayne Mumford and Gregory J. McEvoy, attorneys with McCutchen, Mumford, Vaught and Geddie, P.A., who have significant experience with dementia-related matters, will review legal and financial issues families face as loved ones age. They will also discuss the importance of maintaining a current estate/trust plan that provides for the care and protection of the individual as well as his or her assets upon incapacity or death. Their staff has also received dementia awareness training.
